Cruising to the F1 race in Monaco

For our fourth cruise we decided on a short 4-night French and Italian Riviera cruise that would include a stop in Monaco in time for the crown jewel of the Formula 1 racing calendar - the Monaco Grand Prix. For this trip we were joined by our friends Shaun & Nona Browne. The cruise departed from Nice and we decided to start the trip with some time in Amsterdam before heading to Nice.

We left home on May 21, 2011, arriving in Amsterdam early in the morning of May 22 for a few days in that city before heading to Nice in the morning of May 25. We boarded our cruise in the afternoon of May 26 and returned to Nice in the morning of May 30 for one more day in Nice before heading back to Canada on May 31, 2011.

Azamara Journey

For second time in a row we sailed on Azamara Journey - one of three near identical ships owned and operated by Azamara.

It really has become so far our home on the seas. We first tried Azamara Journey in 2010 because we wanted to try a smaller ship after two cruises on larger vessels with Celebrity Cruises. We loved the experience on the smaller ship. It really did suit us better. When booking some of our subsequent cruises we had actually looked at some other cruise line options - but the combination of available itineraries and service that we knew and loved brought us back to booking again on Azamara Journey.
