Delving into iPhoneography

At the start of 2018 I took the plunge on a new iPhone X - opting for the 256GB silver version to replace my iPhone 6. The camera specs were definitely something that interested me and gave me some thoughts on using my iPhone X more as a camera than I had previously with the iPhone 6. Would it be what I expected? That is the question.

Adventures with Safari's Pinned Tab icon

Since Mac OS X 10.11 and Safari 9.0 it has been possible to create Pinned Tabs in Safari for websites that can be locked to the left side of the tab bar of the browser for quick access. By default, the icon displayed is the first letter of the website in a standard font. Quite boring, to say the least.

I have had somewhat of a change in direction for the overall look of WHITEonline - opting to add a splash of colour to the pages. The whole thing started with a desire of mine to have the images that I use for main index pages to change from black & white to colour as a hover over effect.

Image Optimization Part 2 - Monitor Calibration

Last September I wrote a blog entry about my ongoing quest to find the best image quality vs file size for the images used on WHITEonline. It turns out, however, that the steps identified in the post didn't tell the entire story. The missing part came from someone who read that blog post and suggested that I try something to improve the colour balance on the photos I had posted: monitor calibration.

Fresh start for 2017

During my spare time in the month of December I have been working on an update for the look of WHITEonline to start 2017 (it will go live on January 1, 2017). Seemed a fitting thing to do. Is possible this is the start of a trend - to make a new style change for the beginning of each new year. We shall see how that pans out as 2017 comes to a close.

WHITEonline webpages, that is.

I decided to take stock of where I was with the development of WHITEonline and thought it might be a good idea to take a quick look at the stats on our site. I was surprised to find that the site has grown to a current total of 101 active pages. And that doesn't include some pages that are published but not what I would consider part of our main site.
